Media Information

When one decides to produce a program about any cryptozoological topic, it is vital for two essential factors to be taken into consideration.

These are: accuracy and the ability to sort myth from reality. The very nature of cryptozoology is considered somewhat controversial. While a few mainstream scientists have not yet accepted this discipline, altogether too many fringe elements have been all too keen to embrace cryptozoology and imprint it with a stigma that is unwarranted.

Cryptozoology is not "X-Files". it is, in reality, part and parcel of orthodox zoology and any misrepresentation of the discipline as a paranormalist or occultic subject is errant and utterly misleading. The BCSCC approaches the search for cryptids in much the same way early explorers did when verifying the existence of say, unclassified animals in Africa.

Since our inception in 1989, the BCSCC has assisted many television companies in the accurate and intelligent portrayal of cryptids in their documentaries and educational programs. Our advisors have assisted in programs which have been featured on The learning Channel, BBC Natural History, Nova, TV Ontario, The History Channel, Space Network, CTV, Discovery and a host of other stations and networks.

We have also assisted authors, newspapers and periodicals with our vast cryptozoological resources. Our executive committee comprises actual field investigators who have been actively searching for data that either verifies or disproves the existence of such animals. In some cases our own investigators have seen and recorded cryptids.

We also have many contacts within the cryptozoology community and to those who possess some of the best evidence so far for the existence of cryptids. These include film and video footage, photographs, tracks and casts.

Naturally, we do not supply our services for nothing. We are not a business, but expect fair recompense for our considerable services to enable us to effectively fund our work. Media organisations expecting our help without willing to supply adequate financial compensation should not bother contacting us. However, those who believe in the meritorious principle of pay-as-you-go are encouraged to get in touch with us by e-mail at bcscc@bcscc.ca
